Factory option
The early Mustang power-steering system added hydraulic assist to the steering linkage rather than replacing the entire steering gear with a later integral design. Correct pumps, brackets, hoses, control valves, and linkage vary with engine and production details.
Availability and price are documented, but a 1965 installation total has not been recovered.

The March 1966 price list identifies power steering as a regular production option and excludes it from High Performance engine combinations.
Authentication requires more than a pump: the control valve, ram, hoses, brackets, pulleys, steering linkage, and evidence of conversion should agree.
