The displayed rows follow the MustangSpecs split because they add to 114,228. The former MustangCarFacts rows contained 42,518 hatchbacks and 20,765 convertibles, which made the table 20,994 cars short of its own total; the source currently displays 56,977 and 27,300. The competing totals below remain separate rather than being averaged or discarded.

Why published totals differ

Reported: 114,228 MustangSpecs 1993 production table 1993 model-year Mustang production; five displayed body-and-trim rows sum exactly to this total. This is the leading value because the published component rows reconcile to it. The underlying Ford count record has not yet been inspected.
Reported: 114,335 Hagerty Price Guide model overview Hagerty's reported 1993 Mustang population, described on the page as cars sold. The figure is 107 higher than the leading table. Its sales-versus-production scope and possible relationship to Cobra R require clarification.
Reported: 115,359 Wikipedia production table citing James M. Flammang's Standard Catalog of American Cars, 1976–1999 Tertiary table's reported 1993 production total: 23,579 notchbacks, 65,220 hatchbacks, and 26,560 convertibles. Preserve as a separate tertiary report. MustangCarFacts has not inspected the cited book pages or reconciled model-year cutoff, export, and Cobra inclusion.

Owner complaint reports

NHTSA returned 132 rows. After exact vehicle-scope filtering, 126 rows represent 102 unique ODI owner reports. Repeated ODI rows can describe separate components of one report and are not double-counted.

Complaints are attributed reports, not verified defects or failure rates. Reported crashes, fires, injuries, and deaths can overlap and do not establish causation.

Why it matters It launched SVT's production Mustang program in the Fox body's final model year.

SVT Cobra R

Body / basis SVT Cobra-based limited-production competition model.
Distinctive equipment Deleted rear seat, air conditioning, and radio, with competition-focused hardware changes.

Feature LX Convertibles

Production
Estimated: 1,500 Stewart Jones and Terry McCoy, Mustang Times; McCoy identified as Limited Edition Registry keeper White 1993 Feature Mustang convertibles in Terry McCoy's registry-derived accounting: 1,056 automatic and 444 five-speed. A traceable registry estimate, not a Ford factory ledger total.
Estimated: 1,503 Stewart Jones and Terry McCoy, Mustang Times; McCoy identified as Limited Edition Registry keeper Yellow 1993 Feature Mustang convertibles: 1,119 black-interior cars and 384 white-interior cars; 938 automatic and 565 five-speed. A traceable registry estimate, not a Ford factory ledger total.
Reported: 1,460 TripleWhiteFox account, associated in part with an email from Ford product engineer Joe Laura Alternate reported white 1993 Feature Mustang convertible total. Preserved as an alternate report. The exact derivation and whether exports explain the difference remain unresolved.
Reported: 1,419 TripleWhiteFox account, associated in part with an email from Ford product engineer Joe Laura Alternate reported yellow 1993 Feature Mustang convertible total. Preserved as an alternate report. The exact derivation and whether exports explain the difference remain unresolved.
Terry McCoy registry figures report 1,500 white and 1,503 yellow cars. The same history preserves alternate figures of 1,460 white and 1,419 yellow associated in part with Ford product engineer Joe Laura. The source suggests export scope as one possible explanation, but MustangCarFacts does not present that hypothesis as resolved.
Identity Vibrant White and Chrome Yellow LX 5.0 convertibles with coordinated tops, wheels, interiors, and rear spoilers; surviving accounts disagree about the color totals.
Body / basis LX 5.0 convertible special editions in Vibrant White or Chrome Yellow.
Identification Verify paint, top, wheels, interior, spoiler, labels, and original paperwork as one package.
Evidence caution The two surviving count sets use incompletely documented population definitions; neither is silently promoted to a Ford factory total.
