Inspection Checklist

Body, Chassis, And Recalls

Run Ford and NHTSA recall lookups by VIN, including airbag and transmission-related campaigns where applicable.
Inspect panhard bar alignment, axle centering, differential whine, lower control arms, strut mounts, lowering-spring quality, and tire rub on modified cars.
Convertibles need full top operation, quarter-window alignment, trunk emergency-access checks, and hydraulic/water inspection.

Powertrain

MT-82 manuals need cold and hot 1-2 and 2-3 shift tests, high-rpm lockout/grind checks, clutch pedal return, reverse engagement, and shifter modification inspection.
6R80 automatics need reverse engagement, PRNDL/backup-lamp behavior, downshift behavior, and software/recall history checked.
Coyote cars should be scanned for misfires and checked for tune/intake/header history, emissions readiness, clutch condition, rear gear changes, and oil leaks.

Special Models

Boss 302 should show Road Runner/Boss intake, manual transmission, quad exhaust with side pipes, Boss graphics, unique wheels, suspension/brakes, and TracKey documentation if claimed.
Laguna Seca should have rear-seat delete/X-brace, Recaros, Torsen differential, brake ducts, unique wheels/tires, splitter/spoiler, and correct color/stripe combination.
GT500 cars need supercharger, cooling, clutch, tire, rear-axle, and tune/pulley records reviewed like a high-power track/drag car.

Photo Clues

Boss photos should show intake, side-exit exhaust, graphics, wheels, interior, and optional Laguna Seca rear-seat delete/X-brace where claimed.

Performance Package/Brembo/GT500 photos should include brakes, wheels, tires, cooling, and splitter/underbody condition, not only exterior shots.

Ask for Track Apps/Line Lock/Launch Control usage clues through tire wear, brake heat, and maintenance records.

VIN, Tag & Option Mismatch Checks

Boss or Laguna Seca stripes and wheels without Boss VIN/window sticker and hardware are not enough.

Manual-transmission complaints need a real road test; a short low-rpm loop can miss MT-82 high-rpm lockout or grind.

Known Buyer Risks

MT-82 behavior, track wear, modified Coyote tuning, and GT500 pulley/tune history are core buyer risks.
Boss and Shelby package content can be photo-checked first, then verified with VIN/window sticker or registry paperwork.

Color & Interior Database

Use paint/interior codes as a screening tool, then verify individual cars from door labels, window stickers, Marti reports where available, SVT/Shelby/registry records, or Ford build data.
