S650

2024 Mustang Buyers Guide

S650 buyers should treat software, recalls, digital cockpit behavior, Performance Package/Dark Horse/GTD equipment, and track-feature use as first-order inspection items.

Inspection Checklist

Electronics, Water, And Recalls

  • Run Ford and NHTSA recall lookups by VIN; 2024-2026 S650 records include instrument, camera, lighting/BCM water, brake, fuel, clutch-line, wiper/washer, and engine-related campaigns depending on year/equipment.
  • Test the digital cluster, warning lamps, rear camera, exterior lights, PRNDL/manual gear display, drive modes, SYNC, OTA/software state, and key functions at startup and during a drive.
  • Inspect trunk side areas, body-control-module/water-intrusion evidence, carpet dampness, taillights, license lamps, marker lamps, and body seams on 2024-2025 cars.

Powertrain And Track Features

  • Manual GT and Dark Horse cars need clutch pressure-line recall status, clutch smell, high-rpm shifts, rev match, launch-control use, drift-brake use, and track-maintenance records checked.
  • Remote Rev, Line Lock, Launch Control, electronic drift brake, Track Apps, active exhaust, Quiet Start, and Custom Drive Modes should be demonstrated after normal street behavior is verified.
  • EcoBoost and GT cars need fuel-line/EGR/engine recall checks by VIN and a scan for powertrain DTCs or recently cleared monitors.

Special Models

  • Dark Horse should show 500-hp 5.0 identity, unique fascia/grille/badging, Tremec manual if equipped, MagneRide/performance content, blue interior accents where present, wheels, brakes, aero, and Handling Package content if claimed.
  • GT Performance Package should be verified by brakes, wheels/tires, axle ratio, gauges/menus, spoiler/aero, MagneRide if equipped, and window sticker.
  • GTD-level cars are outside ordinary buyer scope; require serialized documentation, GTD-specific body/aero/suspension/transaxle/brake content, and recall status.

Photo Clues

S650 photos should include the digital cluster, drive-mode screens, rear camera image, exterior lighting, window sticker, and door label because software/equipment state matters.

Dark Horse photos should show grille/fascia, badging, wheels/brakes, interior accents, shifter/transmission, aero, and Handling Package pieces where claimed.

Yellow Splash, Blue Ember, Nite Pony/Bronze/60th-style appearance content, and Dark Horse cues should be checked against the order guide or window sticker.

VIN, Tag & Option Mismatch Checks

Dark Horse or GT Performance Package visual parts do not prove mechanical package content; use the window sticker and hardware checks.

A current-model car can still have open recalls or pending software remedies, so use VIN lookup near purchase date.

Color & Interior Database

Use paint/interior codes as a screening tool, then verify individual cars from door labels, window stickers, Marti reports where available, SVT/Shelby/registry records, or Ford build data.

Code Color / Trim Model Body Units Notes
- Factory color reference Mustang - Not published S650 paint and appearance verification should start with the window sticker or Ford build data: Blue Ember Metallic on Dark Horse, Vapor Blue/Grabber Blue/Race Red-type mainstream colors, 60th Anniversary appearance content, Bronze/Black appearance packages, and Dark Horse or GTD trim are package-dependent rather than paint alone.
RH Yellow Splash Metallic Mustang - Not published 2024 S650 exterior color availability; no public final production-by-color count has been verified.
E1 Blue Ember Metallic Dark Horse - Not published Dark Horse-associated color availability; verify exact car by window sticker/order guide.
- Interior trim verification Mustang Interior Not published Interior code/count data is not publicly complete for this model year; verify from the warranty/data plate, door label, window sticker, Marti report, or registry data.

Confidence: Availability-focused; exact counts included only for sourced special models. Breakout: No public full-line production-by-color breakout has been verified for this model year yet.
